Intraditional West African music there is not a separation between artist and audience; rather, music, dance and song are integral part of peoples daily lives and participatory communal experiences shared by all members of a "village". I believe that music, dance and song should be an integral part of ALL of our lives! By learning and participating in the music of West Africa, we are offered great insight into our sense of self, community and the process of creating the feeling of a "village" no matter where we live."
