Instructional Enhanced CD's
Early in 2006, Denbaya, Inc. - An Oregon non-profit cultural arts organization, of which Ryan was Artistic Director - approached Ryan with the idea of documenting and making his hugely successful classes available to anyone - anywhere. Ryan began recording everything he taught in his three different levels of classes. The result was a truly unique instructional tool. More than just the basic jembe and dundun parts, Ryan recorded solos, arrangement, roll-excercises, ballet and traditional dundun patterns and variations and virtually everything he taught during the fall and winter of 2005. Additionally, he added unique versions of several of the rhythms performed traditionally in Guinea and a special Enhanced portion of the CD, accessible on computer CD-ROM drives, that includes notation of the rhythms and complete historical backgrounds.
The two CD's ended up covering beginning through advanced levels of 8 rhythms with over 100 tracks of pristine audio. The CD's are sold exculsively through the Denbaya website and a proceed of the sales goes to Denbaya, Inc. to keep bringing traditional music and dance programs and events to the Rogue Valley.
