Ryan M. Camara's K-12 educational programs bring the music, dance and culture of West Africa alive, while helping to develop essential art and life skills and fostering a desire to explore the traditions of other cultures. Ryan has specially designed programs to meet the changing developmental needs, skill sets and National Music and Dance Standards for early elementary (K-2), elementary (3-5), middle school (6-8) and high school (9-12).

All of Ryan's K-12 programs feature his innovative holistic approach to music and movement education and which combines multiple-disciplines into a unified cross-cultural educational experience.

Ryan's two most popular programs are:

School Assemblies

One-time educational/performance events that introduce students to the music and dance of West Africa through audience participation and awe-inspiring performance.

School Residencies

One - four week intensive hands-on programs where students learn authentic drumming and dance techniques, rhythms and arrangements, and essential arts and life skills through innovative processes in an engaging groups experiences.

Ryan M. Camara's school programs provide the ultimate inspiration for music teachers starting his curriculum: West African Drum and Dance: A Yankadi - Macrou Celebration available from Alfred Publishing. Also, the West African Drum and Dance: A Yankadi - Macrou Celebration Student Book also available from Alfred is the perfect companion for students in Ryan's Residency Programs.

Ryan is currently a featured artist in resident for the Arts Council of Southern Oregon, where he provides residencies for Jackson and Josephine County schools. This is a brief list of the K-12 residencies and assemblies Ryan has performed over the last few years:
